The Shuri Karate Dojo is dedicated to the promotion, preservation and education of the martial arts and its traditions. We strive to be a reputable and respected dojo, dedicated to preserving the classical style of Shitoryu Karatedo founded on the small Japanese island of Okinawa by Master Kenwa Mabuni (1899-1952) and continued with his son Kenzo Mabuni (1927-2005), which we study on an independant basis away from the karate politics of some larger associations.

The Shuri Karate Dojo is also affiliated with:-

Carter-sensei has affiliation to the National Martial Arts Association (USA) an organisation with no stylistic boundaries. Their belief is that martial artists must come together to train hard and yet still have fun, while at the same time learning from each other. Their principles are based upon those set forth by the late Soke Richard P. Baillargeon, founder of the National Karate Jiu-Jitsu Union; that all ranks and titles must be earned the old-fashioned way, through sweat and hard work. NMAA accepts all legitimate traditionally-based and modern martial arts styles from karatedo, taekwondo, jiujitsu, judo, aikido, MMA, kickboxing, Chinese arts and others.
